The OVP Libreng Sakay Bus is ready to hit the road again, offering free rides to commuters in Davao City.
Millions of Filipinos have already benefited from the OVP Libreng Sakay program, one of the key initiatives led by Vice President Sara Duterte.
In Davao City, the OVP Libreng Sakay bus operates six days a week, serving different routes on specific days: Roxas to Lasang on Mondays and Tuesdays, Roxas to Toril on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Roxas to Calinan on Fridays and Saturdays.
Commuters can avail of the free ride services from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM in the morning and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the evening.
For commuters like Kristine, the program provides much-needed relief, especially during peak hours. She shared that finding a Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) during rush hour is often difficult, making the Libreng Sakay buses a valuable alternative for daily travel. “Kanang dugay makasakay kay kuan usahay walay jeep or walay L-3 tapos puno na usahay. Dako kaayo siyag tabang (OVP Libreng Sakay Bus) kay ma-libre mi sa pamasahe tas dali ra pud mi makaabot sa work or dali rami makauli sa amoa,” (Sometimes, it takes a long time to get a ride because there are no available jeeps or L-3s, and when there are, they’re often full. The OVP Libreng Sakay Bus is a huge help because we get a free ride, and it allows us to reach work or go home much faster,) she said.
Currently, a total of nine buses are operating across different regions in the country.
Six of these buses serve various routes in Luzon, while one bus each operates in Bacolod and Cebu in the Visayas region. Additionally, one OVP Libreng Sakay bus is dedicated to Davao City.
