
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), in partnership with the OVP–Caraga and Western Mindanao Satellite Offices, spearheaded a tree planting activity in Barangay Dimagaling, Kapai, Lanao del Sur under its flagship program, PagbaBAGo: A Million Trees Campaign.

A total of 2,000 seedlings of Kamagong, Nato, and Lauan were planted during the event. The initiative was carried out in partnership with the OVP–Caraga and Western Mindanao Satellite Offices, alongside the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Lanao del Sur.
Forester Asmarie Labao, PENRO Lanao del Sur, expressed appreciation for the OVP’s commitment to advancing environmental stewardship: “Masaya tayo ngayon kasi kasama natin ang mga iba’t ibang ahensya ng gobyerno especially AFP, PNP na patuloy na sumusuporta sa mga ganitong programa ng mga tree growing activities. Also to mention the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). Ako rin po ay nagpapasalamat dahil not only the MENRE family but our fellow forest rangers, who are here today to support – ‘yung ganitong mga programa natin,” (We are glad today to be joined by various government agencies, especially the AFP and PNP, who continue to support tree growing activities like this. We also acknowledge the participation of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). I am likewise grateful, not only to the MENRE family but also to our fellow forest rangers who are here with us to show their support for this kind of program.)
He also underscored the significance of the initiative in addressing climate change and emphasized the role of local governments in protecting the environment for future generations.
Forester Asnawi A. Dataman, CENRE Officer–2A, likewise commended Vice President Sara Duterte for her strong advocacy for the environment: “Talagang si Vice President Sara, mararamdaman mo talaga ‘yung pagmamahal niya para sa kalikasan,” (You can really feel the Vice President’s love for nature through this initiative.)
The PagbaBAGo: A Million Trees Campaign is one of the OVP’s flagship programs under the leadership of Vice President Sara Duterte, aimed at promoting sustainable reforestation efforts across the country.
As of August, this year, the OVP has planted a total of 999,450 trees nationwide through its tree planting and growing activities.
