The Office of the Vice President (OVP) recently launched a series of tree planting activities across the country, resulting in the successful planting of 6,000 fruit-bearing and forest trees, along with 1,000 mangrove propagules.
The said activity was spearheaded by the OVP's ten Satellite Offices and in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), local government units, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and various civic and private organizations such as the Society of Filipino Incorporated, the tree planting activities spanned different provinces and communities.
The OVP also led a mangrove planting activity in Sitio Delta Consuelo, Macabebe, Pampanga, where 1,000 mangrove propagules were planted.
The activity was also participated by the Philippine Coast Guard, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and several local LGBT groups from Santa Ana, Arayat, and Porac, Pampanga.
The nationwide initiative forms part of the “Pagbabago: A Million Trees Campaign,” which aims to plant one million trees by the end of 2028 to help preserve and rehabilitate the country’s natural environment.
The OVP emphasized that these activities reflect the administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community empowerment.
By planting trees and mangroves, the campaign not only contributes to climate resilience but also supports biodiversity conservation and long-term ecological health.
