The OVP–BARMM Satellite Office visits some of the farthest schools in the region, providing learners with school bags and essential supplies.
In a small community in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, learners of Dimaukom Utto Elementary School continue to pursue their education despite various challenges—all in pursuit of their dreams for a better future.
For many students, going to school means overcoming limited resources and making the most of whatever learning materials they have.
Last Mile Schools (LMS), including Dimaukom Utto Elementary School, are among the priorities of the PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners Campaign—a program launched by the Office of the Vice President that aims to support young learners by providing essential school supplies such as bags, notebooks, and writing materials. These simple items make a significant difference in a student’s daily learning experience.
Among the beneficiaries is Jean Tagay, who dreams of becoming a nurse someday.
“Yung ballpen ay magagamit ko sa pagsulat. Masusulat ko na po ‘yung mga itinuro ni teacher,” ( I can now use a ballpen for writing. I can now jot down what my teacher teaches.) Jean said.
Teachers also welcomed the initiative, saying that beyond school supplies, the PagbaBAGo campaign helps ensure that students can actively participate and stay engaged in class.
School Head Hilda Batua expressed her gratitude, noting how these simple supplies help ease the burden on students.
“Very thankful ako sa inyo, ma’am, dahil hindi na ako mag-aalala this coming June. Hindi na sila nakatunganga sa pisara—may gamit na sila,” (I am very thankful for this initiative. I no longer need to worry this coming June because they will no longer just stare at the board—they now have school supplies.) Batua said.
Hope Beyond the Hills: OVP Reaches Remote Learners in Maguindanao del Norte
After a four-hour trek across mountains, streams, and steep trails, personnel from the Office of the Vice President (OVP)–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao reached Ranao Midafa Elementary School—one of the farthest schools in the area.
The staff were greeted with warm smiles as they distributed PagbaBAGo bags to learners, each containing essential school supplies, dental kits, and raincoats.
School Head Esperanza Bangil expressed her gratitude for the support.
“It’s a big help for them—they now have proper school supplies and school bags. Before, they only used cellophane and eco bags,” she said.
In places where access is difficult, efforts like these remind communities that they are not forgotten. While these may seem small to some, for students in far-flung areas of BARMM, the PagbaBAGo bags and school supplies represent encouragement, opportunity, and renewed hope for the future.

Para sa karamihan sa kanila, hindi madali ang pagpasok sa paaralan dahil sa kakulangan ng mga kagamitang pang-eskwela.
Ang mga Last Mile Schools (LMS), kabilang ang Dimaukom Utto Elementary School, ay kabilang sa mga prayoridad ng PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and Trees Campaign—isang programang inilunsad ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) na naglalayong masuportahan ang mga batang mag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng school bags na naglalaman ng mahahalagang school supplies tulad ng notebooks, ballpen, at iba pa.
