Vice President Sara Duterte calls for urgent action on environmental issues in a special Earth Day video message.
In celebration of Earth Day, Vice President Sara Duterte called on Filipinos to take collective action in the fight against climate change, underscoring the country’s shared responsibility to protect its natural resources.
In a video message, Vice President Duterte emphasized the urgency of environmental stewardship, highlighting the Philippines’ wealth of natural beauty—its mountains, seas, and forests—as both blessings and responsibilities.
“The Philippines is blessed with breathtaking mountains, rich seas, and lush forests—gifts that come with a deep responsibility to protect,” she stated.
Echoing this year’s Earth Day global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” Duterte reminded the public that meaningful change can be achieved through unity and proactive environmental efforts.
“This Earth Day, we are reminded that the power to restore and protect our environment lies in our collective action,” she said.
“Let us commit to fighting climate change, safeguarding biodiversity, and securing a livable future,” she added.
The Vice President also highlighted the OVP’s initiative, Pagbabago: A Million Learners and Trees Campaign, which aligns with international reforestation efforts such as The Canopy Project. The campaign aims to plant one million trees while engaging communities and schools in environmental education and sustainability.
“Every tree we plant is a living promise to contribute to global reforestation efforts,” she noted.
Duterte encouraged citizens to join local clean-up drives or start community-led greening initiatives to contribute to the broader environmental movement.
“Together, we can build a greener, stronger, and more resilient Philippines,” she added.
VP Sara’s Earth Day message serves as both a call to action and a reaffirmation of the country’s commitment to sustainability, highlighting the power of community-driven efforts in building a better future for all.

“The Philippines is blessed with breathtaking mountains, rich seas, and lush forests—gifts that come with a deep responsibility to protect,” pahayag niya.
Kasabay ng tema ng Earth Day ngayong taon na “Our Power, Our Planet,” ipinaalala ni Duterte na sa pagkakaisa at sama-samang pagkilos nagmumula ang tunay at pangmatagalang pagbabago para sa kalikasan.
“This Earth Day, we are reminded that the power to restore and protect our environment lies in our collective action,” aniya.
“Let us commit to fighting climate change, safeguarding biodiversity, and securing a livable future,” dagdag pa niya.
“Every tree we plant is a living promise to contribute to global reforestation efforts,” ani Duterte.
“Together, we can build a greener, stronger, and more resilient Philippines,” wika niya.
